The Hungary Grand Prix is only one day away before F1 heads into the summer break. George Russel was able to secure the pole which prevented Ferrari from a 1-2. Hungary is likely their greatest chance to go 1-2 and the pressure will certainly be on with the Mercedes in the front. With Red Bull in the middle of the pack, it is the perfect chance for Ferrari to close the gap in the constructor’s championship as well.
Race Winner
Although I really want to see Geroge Russel win this race, I don’t think Mercedes is going to be able to hold the lead. I am going to take Carlos Sainz who finished 2nd during qualifying to take the win here. Watch out for Verstappen and Hamilton to make a charge as well, but ultimately I got Sainz.
Alpine or McLaren
The best of the rest race is heating up with McLaren and Alpine with only 4 points separating the two teams. Both teams qualified inside the top 10 so it should be interesting how things turn out. I like how Ricciardo has been racing this week, so give me McLaren in a tight one.
Most Likely Points Finish?
I am not going to count Sergio Perez in this, and I am looking at Kevin Magnussen here. He is driving the upgraded Haas car and didn’t look too bad in qualifying. I think the biggest question is whether they can take down one of the McLaren or Alpine cars which is the easiest path to the points.
Where will Hamilton Finish?
If Mercedes continues to drive the way they did the past few weeks their first win is going to come pretty soon. Not a great week so far from Hamilton, but I see him climbing up into third place. I think he and Charles will have a fight that will ultimately result in Charles losing third. I do anticipate a Max vs Lewis fight to appear somewhere during the race as well.
