The position of cornerback is one of the most important in today’s NFL. With all of the high powered offenses, having a good cornerback unit is vital to success in the NFL. In this article I will be going over some of the top cornerback units in the NFL.

  1. Baltimore Ravens 

The Baltimore Ravens field the best duo of cornerbacks in the NFL. With Marlon Humphrey and Marcus Peters both in their prime, and are top corners in the league right now. With a solid corner in Jimmie Smith, this unit not only has stars but also has the depth to recover from injuries.This team has two lockdown corners that can go head to head with some of the most prolific offenses in the league, and is what makes them the best corners in the NFL.  

  1. New England Patriots 

The New England Patriots relied heavily on their defense last season, and that meant that the corners in particular had to step up. Stephone Gilmore has shown that he can be a number one corner, and may be the best cornerback in the league after winning the defensive player of the year award. Opposite Gilmore, they have J.C Jackson who has given up a 37.0 passer rating which is the best in the NFL. Their third option in Jason McCourty is ninth in passer rating, and rounds out a solid group of corners. With two top defenders and a solid number three, this team has one of the best groups of corners in the NFL. 

  1. Los Angeles Chargers 

The L.A Chargers had a down season this past year, but one of the few bright spots has been the cornerback corps. With a star in Casey Hayward who has shown his ability to be a shutdown corner, another star in Desmond King this group of corners are young and talented. With the signing of veteran star Chris Harris Jr. this team is getting a reliable starter who can also be a mentor for all of the new kids. With the balance of young and old, this team is set up for success.
