Round 1 Results of 2k sim (Western Conference Edition)

After the first round concluded, the results have come in from the simulation. There were upsets, and blowouts. Here are the final results: (The series MVPs were determined by RTT when looking at the statline.)

Western Conference:

  1. Los Angeles Lakers vs 8. Golden State

Game 1: LAKERS
Game 2: WARRIORS
Game 3: LAKERS
Game 4: LAKERS
Game 5: LAKERS

(LAL wins 4-1)

Series conclusion: The two best players in this series (Anthony Davis & LeBron James) came to shine in round 1. For most of the games, these two showed complete dominance against a Warriors team who had no answer for the Lakers, especially on the defensive end. The Lakers will be moving on to the second round of the simulation.

  1. New Orleans vs 7. Utah


Game 1: JAZZ
Game 2: PELICANS

Game 3: PELICANS

Game 4: PELICANS
GAME 5: PELICANS

(NOP wins 4-1)

Series conclusion: After the lone loss in game 1, the Pelicans had already had enough. Bradley Beal and Bojan Bogdonavic came out firing, posting 20 point games in all four wins. Rookie Zion Williamson also contributed, especially when grabbing boards. Williamson had 7+ rebounds in every game of the series.

  1. Denver vs 6. Houston

Game 1: ROCKETS
Game 2: NUGGETS
Game 3: ROCKETS
Game 4: ROCKETS

(HOU wins 4-3)

Series conclusion: After the Rockets took a 3-1 lead, nobody would’ve thought that the Nuggets could come back. But, they did. Just not fully. Denver won two straight to force a game 7 at Pepsi Center. James Harden and Russell Westbrook led the way for Houston, giving them a chance to compete in the second round

  1. Los Angeles Clippers vs 5. Dallas Mavericks 

Game 1: MAVERICKS
Game 2: CLIPPERS
Game 3: CLIPPERS
Game 4: MAVERICKS

Game 5: CLIPPERS
Game 6: MAVERICKS
Game 7: MAVERICKS

(DAL wins 4-3)

Series Conclusion: The second game 7-series of the Western Conference featured the Dallas Mavericks and the Los Angeles Clippers. The Mavs were underdogs in this series, but found a way to come away with the win. DeMar DeRozan was one of the reasons they won game 7. Dropping 25 points, DeRozan helped Dallas to a 120-116 win to advance into the next round.
